John Durrant is a musician and composer of ambient sketches and experimental film scores, that combine piano, cello and field recordings.

John is a Grammy nominated film maker and multi-award winning film, television designer and virtual reality director, with BAFTA and Royal Television Society recognitions.

Born on the Isle of Man, John grew up in and around Stoke, Manchester and Liverpool in the UK’s North West. He is currently living in Bristol and Hay on Wye on the Welsh Border.

Inspired by Brian Eno, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Arvo Pärt, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Juliana Barwick, The Cinematic Orchestra, Imogen Heap and Olafur Arnolds and the native language, poetry and songs in Manx Gaelic

His first band, Colours Out Of Time, were part of a ‘new psychedelia’ scene, supporting Echo and The Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes, and recording a John Peel Session at the BBC.
